Boatsetter's Guide to the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show
Save the date!
The 57th annual Fort Lauderdale Boat Show will take place from Nov 3rd through Nov 7th, 2016, along Fort Lauderdale's famous beach front and sprawling into some of the best spots the city has to offer.
This year’s show will feature thousands of boats including high performance cruisers, consoles, sailing and motor yachts, superyachts, catamarans, ski and jet boats and so much more! The world's best boat manufacturers anchor up from Azimut to Hatteras to Sunseeker and Sea Ray (and hundreds in between)!
Not surprisingly, the show draws visitors and boating enthusiasts from all over the world. Beyond the boats, the event features live music, exotic car displays, international food, floating cocktail barges, and plenty of opportunity (including a full schedule of classes!) to boost your boating skills.
As you might imagine—there’s a lot to take in at the boat show but the sheer size of it can be overwhelming! With miles to cover and many, many stops along the way - seeing the whole show without any pre-planning could be next to impossible. But if you do your homework before you even head out to the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, you'll ensure that you don’t miss anything on your must-see list.
Here’s the lowdown on what you need to do before
the show to make the most of your time at
the boat show.
Do your research -
The show management website
includes a complete list of exhibitors and boats that will be on display. You can search by brand name, boat length, boat type, and whether the boat is new or used. Make a list of the boats you want to see and keep it handy as you walk around.
Set aside a few days (NOT just a few hours) -
Enjoy the show at your leisure. The last thing you want is to feel rushed, or to miss something you wanted to see. Two-day tickets offer great value and give you the freedom to wander without feeling pressured. Stop at every exhibitor, take pictures and ask all the questions you want. Or just relax and enjoy the music as you take in the party vibe.
Think ahead -
Save yourself the hassle of long lines at the event and buy your tickets online before the show.
If you’re a watersport enthusiast, don’t miss "The Blue Wild Watersports and Marine Art Expo" where you’ll have a chance to listen to industry experts talk about everything from spearfishing and freediving to underwater photography.
The Marine Art Display room, which features high-end art and underwater photography, is a must-see for art lovers. Celebrity speakers, including Gator Boy Chris Gillette and Manny Puig, will also be onsite displaying their artwork.
Get there -
There are a number of ways to get to and from the boat show. You can take the free Park N Ride Boat Show Shuttle from the War Memorial Parking to the Broward County Convention Center. Or alternately park at the Riverside Hotel Garage for $5 and take either the free bus or a $10 Water Taxi, which offers unlimited boarding and access to all the exhibitor sites. Be sure to allow some time (and patience) for your departure, the lines can be long waiting to grab a shuttle or taxi.
Be smart about it
- With all this walking and hopping on and off boats, comfortable shoes are important. Bring some cash, just in case you need it. Protect yourself from the sun and bring a bag to carry the things you pick up along the way!
The 2016 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show is sure to be a boat lover’s dream come true, and the best opportunity to explore everything from boats and boating accessories to yachts and super yachts. To say you’ll leave feeling a little inspired is an understatement. But you don’t need a billion-dollar checking account balance to indulge in the #BoaterLife. All you need is your Boatsetter
app! You can be cruising the waterways in your own boat rental with just a few clicks—no hassle or trust fund required!
