Atlanta, the capital and robust Georgia city, is frequently referred to as the capital of the South. Lake Lanier is a reservoir located in the northern portion of Georgia. It was created by the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956 and is also fed by the waters of the Chestatee River.  Lake Lanier has provided water recreation, economic value, and scenic beauty for over 100 years.
