28' O'Day Sailboat , Explore the Lower Potomac

“Lorelei” is a 1984 O'day 28 centerboard version with a 10kW electric motor. Having the centerboard is great for sailing the Potomac River. Herring Creek is large enough to sail which is a great fallback if the river swell picks up. The location provides great access to the Potomac and is about 10 minutes to get through the channel. The 3.5 foot draft with the board up works well for shallow creeks and 7' with the board down to help beat up wind. The 140 Genoa is on a furler and keeps you moving in lighter air and easy to reef. Galley with double alcohol stove, sink, and ice box.



New self contained head and newly upholstered settees to make the journey comfortable. Enjoy a day on the river or anchor in the cove for dinner. The slip is on the end of the dock and there is enough line to warp the boat into the slip.



Bags of ice are available from the marina for $5/bag.

Chiefs Neighborhood Bar is a two minute drive prior to the marina and has a deli, small shop, bottle shop, take out, and restaurant.



From the water, Tim's at Coles Point (restaurant) is about four miles across the Potomac River and Fitzies Marina Restaurant is a short ways up the Potomac in Breton Bay. Coles Point Tavern is also across the river and has a distinct red roof.
