I’ve had a dozen sailboats, from trailer-sailers to full-keeled pilot-housed voyagers. This Pearson 26 really accomplishes its objectives very nicely. First, she is fun to sail! With a generous SA/D of over 17, she is responsive to even slight breezes without being over-powered in the stronger stuff. Second, she tracks extremely well and will balance so that you can remove your hand from the tiller and remain on course. Third, with a nine foot long cockpit, there’s plenty of room for everyone comfortably. And finally, she has a newish 9.9 Tohatsu outboard with electric start. A day on the Pearson 26 is a day well spent. Her slip is on Kingston Creek, a few hundred yards to the wide Patuxent River and about two miles to Solomons.
And, at the end of the day, stay at the Air B&B “Sailor’s Delight” where the boat is docked! A 120 year old charming home that sleeps eight with many period details idyllically located on a private four acre peninsula with 1,000 feet of private waterfront in California, Maryland, a five minute drive to Solomons Island. The Air B&B includes four kayaks, four bikes, and basketball and is close to historic Sotterly Plantation and Leonardtown, so there’s plenty for the family to do.
The boat rental price is reduced to $100 per day for guests of the Air B&B.
