Here's the perfect boat for a family day on the water. This unsinkable 15' Boston Whaler SuperSport with 60 hp Mercury outboard engine is just the ticket for tubing, skiing, clamming, fishing, or exploring. With a maximum capacity of six passengers, the boat is equipped with life jackets, cushions, first aid kit, safety gear, and GPS and fish finder.
The boat is located on Potter Pond in South Kingstown, RI, with a private dock and private parking. Potter Pond is one of several salt water ponds along the Rhode Island coast, and is approximately one mile long. The lack of boat traffic makes it ideal for tubing or skiing. or anchor in the sandy shallows for swimming or quahogging (RI hard-shelled clams). LIttlenecks and cherrystone clams are pretty easy to find with a rake, or just use your feet to uncover them. If you're lucky, and quick, you can also catch enough blue crabs for a nice treat!
Potter Pond is home to one of RI's most successful aquaculture ventures, the Matunuck Oyster Farm. You can watch workers at the "farm," then motor over to the Matunuck Oyster Bar, one of RI's finest seafood restaurants, and tie up to their dock and enjoy a great snack or meal. For more exploring, travel through the short channel to Point Judith Pond, home to one of RI's largest commercial fishing fleets. If you're very persuasive, we'll even show you our own oyster growing effort, right off our own dock.
Do you enjoy birding? See swans, geese, ducks, cormorants, egrets, gulls, and herons. There are at least two osprey nests on the pond and it's a real treat to watch an osprey dive into the water and come up with dinner!
Come join us. We'd love to share our pond with you.
We had a fantastic day on the water in Dave's boat! The boat was well kept, in great working order, and Dave was a terrific host. He provided a tube for tubing, life jackets, and tons of great advice and navigation tips. The area is gorgeous -- lots of inlets to explore and places to tube. We docked at the oyster bar but it was packed so we walked around the corner to an ice cream place. Amazing day and terrific rental. Thanks, Dave!
We had a great time, he was very helpful explaining the details of the boat and pond. Very gracious person, we had a wonderfully peaceful day and lunch at the oyster bar restaurant. We were able to bring our dog, and are looking forward to going out again next year. can't wait
Great little boat. Peppy and smooth. Very clean and ran great. Easy to operate and in a great location. David let us use his dock to come and go as we pleased so we could go tubing in the morning, come back and swap out tubing gear for the chairs and lunch we packed for the afternoon.
As a fairly new boater and not very familiar with potters pond David was extremely helpful showing us the ropes, when he and I felt comfortable he then let me go off on my own. We had a great time exploring around checking out snug harbor, the matunik oyster farm and tubing on 3rd pond. We ended the day with an early dinner at the matunik oyster bar which I highly suggest. Thank you David for a great experience.
Renting David's boat was an excellent experience! He is extremely accommodating and resposive. We had to post pone our trip on the boat due to bad weather in the forecast - we were able to reschedule without a problem. We arrived on our new date where David helped us load the boat, gave us tips of the pond, and sent us on our way! He is very laid back and such a wonderful guy! We will be renting from him again in the very near future! If you are looking for a beautiful day out on the water rent from David for the easiest and best trip you will find!
This was our second time renting Dave's boat and again we had a wonderful day on the water! Thank you Dave for being so accommodating! He had a tube and water skis available for the kids, we brought both our large dogs and everyone had an outstanding time. I am looking forward to our next outing on Dave's boat! Thanks again!!
Dave is the ultimate host. The boat was immaculate and ready to go. He was very available and flexible with times.
He had a map of the water - he highlighted the places we were interested in. The pond he lives on has lovely homes and vistas- it leads out to Point Judith and Block Island. My husband had fun catching some fish.
We had a picture perfect day. Can't wait to do it again.
David, Thank you so much for renting your boat to us! We had a great day on the Salt Pond. Between dog beach and the Matunuck Oyster Bar for an early dinner, it was a wonderful day on the water and your boat was the perfect size and comfort for the shallow waters of the Pond.
Thanks again, we will definitely be back again.
Renting from David was a great experience. He was very helpful in showing us the area and pointing out great things to see and do. The boat is in phenomenal condition and handles wonderfully weather you stay in the pond or head out to the sound. Will definitely be renting again.
Really fun time with the family on Dave's boat. We enjoyed tubing the most in the upper pond (very deep even at low tide) and explored the rest of the pond. Dug some clams to eat later near the oyster farm. Docked at Matunick Oyster Bar for lunch (awesome!) and even braved the low bridge (and heavy incoming current) to Salt Pond to check out the Harbor of Refuge where we rent a house. The boat handled beautifully, and even this novice felt comfortable at the helm. Dave was so helpful getting the tube rigged and pointing out shallow spots and rocks to avoid. We will be back -- a beautiful spot and perfect boat.
