Professional Background

I am both a USCG licensed professional Captain (100 ton Master) and a SAMS® accredited and ABYC Certified professional Marine Surveyor. I enjoy combining my Marine Survey and Captain’s duties/responsibilities which fully satisfy and utilize my talents, credentials, and interests. As a private/charter Captain, I am seeking ongoing professional relationships with motor yacht owners (45-120ft). I am willing and able to travel depending on the assignment. Captain: I’ve operated a wide variety of power and sailing vessels (near and offshore) most of my life in the Netherlands, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and along the US East and Gulf Coasts. As Captain I’ve completed many trips, including a 9,000 nautical mile voyage on a Sparkman & Stephens designed 42ft sailing yacht cruising the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico. I currently work as Captain of a commercial passenger vessel (125 passengers) conducting day cruises from Sarasota, FL. Marine Surveyor: I’ve been working as an independent SAMS® Accredited Marine Surveyor for almost 10 years and as such have developed a deep and comprehensive understanding of marine design, structure, and all onboard systems and machinery. As a Marine Surveyor I conduct surveys, sea trails, appraisals, and damage investigations of motor and sailing vessels up to approximately 100 ft. in length. I provide customer service and detailed oral and written reports for yacht owners, buyers and insurance/finance companies. USCG Credentials - 100 ton Master of Motor or Auxiliary Sail Vessels upon Near Coastal Waters. Commercial Assistance Towing, STCW Basic Safety and Medical Care Provider, Radar Observer Unlimited, Marine Radio Operator Permit, TWIC, Member of Maritime Drug Consortium. Accredited by SAMS® - Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (http://www.marinesurvey.org/index.html) Standards Certified by ABYC - American Boat and Yacht Council (https://www.abycinc.org) For more details please see my business website here: http://www.powerandsail-marinesurveyor.com Note: I have extensive sailing experience and credentials but am not interested in sailing Captain assignments.
