Previous Experience

BIO Captain Gary Dunzelman Captain Gary’s love of boating and fishing started in the late ‘60s while fishing out of the Highlands on his father’s 1966 Ulrichsen Sea Skiff, “Two Captains”. His boating experience was further developed through his school years. His “passenger vessel” career started as a deckhand on the charter boats Dam-Bot and Ms. Highlands in 1977. Gary worked on several other Highlands / Atlantic Highlands charter and party boats in the late ‘70s before going to the Gulf of Mexico in 1980 to work on crew boats servicing (and fishing under) offshore oil rigs. Gary earned his captains license at the age of 19 in December of 1980 and was immediately promoted to captain of a 100’ crew boat servicing an oil rig 75 miles offshore of Freeport, Texas. During his 7 years “in the Gulf” Gary worked his way up through the ranks from deckhand to engineer, to Captain, to Port Engineer, Port Captain and eventually Operations Manager for a fleet that grew to 21 boats. In 1987 he moved back to New Jersey and worked in the High Speed Ferry / Passenger Vessel Industry as a Captain, Operations Manager and Vice President of Marine Operations until starting CMS llc in 2009. During the course of his professional marine operations experience Capt Gary helped develop one of the most successful private ferry services in the USA with a strong focus toward customer service, vessel safety, maintenance and crew training. Gary also helped develop “off peak” and “special event cruises” including NY Baseball, West Point Football, Fall Foliage, Holiday Parade, NY Boat / Auto / Motor Cycle Show, Sunset and Whale Watching Cruises. In his free time Gary runs numerous Charter Boats, Party Boats and Private Yachts in New York, New Jersey and Florida. His vessel experience ranges from the bottom of the keel through the engine room and passenger cabin to the wheel house and on to the “Front Office”, and from the back of the river to the offshore canyons and from the Great Lakes to the Caribbean. Captain Gary’s vast marine industry knowledge, experience and professional contacts enable him to efficiently respond to all of your Marine Service needs and will ensure safe and efficient operation of your vessel(s) which translates to a satisfactory experience for you, your crew and your guests.
