Annie made my first experience with Boatbound wonderful. She was prompt with her communication nailing down the details of the pick-up time and was very pleasant and relaxed when we met for the boat hand-off. The boat itself is in great shape and was perfect for our party of eight (four adults/four children). I will definitely rent from Annie again and highly recommend her and her boat to the Boatbound community.
Cahal and his father Tom took our boat out over the past few days. They were both a pleasure to meet and to work with. They are clearly experienced boatsman. The boat came back perfectly clean and in great condition. I even learned a few things about boating and my boat from them. I would rent my boat to them again in a heartbeat and highly recommend Cahal to any other Boatbound user! -Trevor
Tom Cavers surely loves his boat and to sail it. We agree totally after a day sailing the Olson 25 in San Francisco Bay. The morning was medium breeze and easy seas and we had two kids who had enough wind not to be bored but not too over the top. Then, the afternoon brought more wind and bigger seas and the Olson was great. At 25 foot, it's a agile day sailor with the decent freeboard and hull for beating great up wind. The helm was quite a pleasure with less wind helm then some other boats like the Catalinas. Boat has an relatively new outboard motor (I guess I should reduce the rating because I don't like outboards, but that seems petty). Getting in and out of the slip was trivial if you have docking phobia. Did it a couple of times due to changing crew and honestly I could have sailed in and out without using the motor (but I didn't). So I've rented boats at different places in the world, and an important distinction to make is this isn't a big sleek Beneteau that smells like new and practically never goes to sea. This is a sailboat that is sailed regularly by the owner in SF Bay and is well matched to the conditions. If you really like to sail versus boating around, I think you should try this boat.
It was just great renting to Tim. He was clearly very knowledgeable about sailing and I felt completely at ease while he was out on my boat. He was also punctual, easy to communicate with, and, importantly, attentive to the little details that matter to a boat owner. I found my boat in great shape when he returned. I don't think you will find many renters who are as conscientious and competent as Tim - highly recommended!
Trevor is a gentlemen who did his very best to accommodate us and make sure we had a wonderful time. His Regal Ventura is a delightfully swift vessel which is easy to manage and user-friendly, a joy in calm waters and yet very capable of dealing with choppy conditions and swells comfortably, if need be. A highly recommended experience and renter.
Neil was a great host. He took us on the lake to show us the details of his catamaran. When you know where everything is, the boat is easy to sail and enjoyable. I'll charter again from Neil when I get a chance.
Julien, his father-in-law Yvengi and I went out for four hours onto Lake St Clare. It was a beautiful day for sailing, with steady 8-10knots from the East. Julien and Yvengi are both experienced sailors and quickly caught on to the nuances of sailing the catamaran. I would certainly charter my sailboat to them in the future, and give them the boat to take out themselves. Julien gave me many ideas to make it easier for a charterer in the future (check lists, etc.) to make sure they were not forgetting anything when taking the boat out and docking it back.
