“I grew up sailing on the Chesapeake bay, principally out of Annapolis and St. Michaels. I raced for many years on a J/24 out of St. Michaels, sailing it all around the Upper Eastern Bay. For about a decade, we had a J/120, which is a 40-foot racer-cruiser, which we sailed out of St. Michaels and Rock Hall. Over the years, I've crewed and captained a number of sailboats, from dinghies to oceangoing yachts, with occasional chartering as necessary. I received Red Cross "advanced" certification when I was 8--it surely expired long ago--and have taken classes at J-World in Annapolis, as has my wife / first mate. More recently, I obtained the required boating safety certification for Maryland and D.C.”
