“Originally from Texas, I first learned to sail in 2004 while working as an instructor for Outward Bound. Many of our trainings took place on the 30-foot pulling boats that OB uses in its sailing programs. In 2005, I earned a spot on the delivery crew for an 84-foot mega yacht from St. Thomas, VI, to Charleston, SC. However, my enthusiasm for sailing didn't really take off until spring 2012 when my good friend--a J-World instructor and former 12-meter coach--started training me to race. I spent two full seasons under his tutelage racing on an Express 34 in Long Island Sound. In September 2013, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to take a job as a professor at California State University, East Bay. In the SF Bay, I regularly race on a Synergy 1000, a Santana 35, and a Melges 24. I have US Sailing Basic Keelboat and Basic Cruising Certifications, and I charter boats in the 35-foot range approximately 10 days per year. My complete sailing resume is available at the following Google Sheet. Be sure to click on the various tabs at the bottom of the sheet. http://tinyurl.com/sailingresume”

My experience chartering to Duke was exceptionally good. He displayed a great deal of professionalism and attention to detail. He voluntarily provided me with a detailed float plan and itinerary for his intended charter well before he arrived. Duke arrived at the time we agreed to board my boat. He displayed very good boating/sailing skills and good judgement. His 5 day charter to Catalina was trouble free and he voluntarily kept me informed at the end of each day. He returned the boat on time, clean and in great condition and he settled his post charter expenses promptly after the charter.
It was a pleasure to charter to Duke and I would be happy to charter to him again.
Duke arrived on time for the rental. He is a capable captain as he was able to brief his crew and passengers on various sailing information. His skill and ability to skipper my boat were apparent when he completed the sail from the Golden Gate north to raccoon straight and on to Tiburon and Sausalito, without incident. I would recommend him as a competent sailor charter boats inside the SF bay and the Pacific coastal areas near by.
