The boat is one of the legendary Santa Cruz 50s. These yachts were built for one thing - sailing fast in the ocean. She has a brand-new mast, custom-built by Buzz Ballenger with swept-back spreaders that incorporates everything learned about the Santa Cruz 50s during the past 30 years. She has recently been outfitted with a custom-built hard dodger, Furuno radar, charting GPS, and anchor windlass.
She is a truly magnificent yacht and is very responsive, she accelerates quickly and handles it beautifully. In heavy air, her deep keel (8 feet) keeps her well-balanced. In light air, she is sailing quickly, while other boats are standing still or forced to motor.
All of our trips are private; we don’t mix groups. There will only be your group and our crew on the boat.
There is a 3-hour minimum. Prices include tax but not a gratuity for the crew (usually 20% like a restaurant).
We sail out of Alameda, Sausalito, and San Francisco. There is a $300 docking fee to sail out of San Francisco. No docking fee for Alameda or Sausalito.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. We are not providing food and drinks at this point because of COVID. We recommend finger foods such as sandwiches, cheese and crackers, pre-cut vegetables, fruit, etc. You are welcome to bring moderate amounts of beer, white wine, and champagne in glass bottles. No red wine, no hard liquor. Contact us for a referral to a caterer.
The boat is legally U.S. Coast Guard certified for up to 24 passengers but right now we’re taking up to 20 passengers on weekdays, and 16 passengers on weekends. She is one of the few sailboats available in the bay for over 6 passengers.
