Pearson 31 Mk.2 deep keel, spinnaker-rigged. Solid Yanmar 3GM diesel. Dual-burner galley, flushing head, 2 sinks, shower.
The Pearson 31 Mk.2 deep-keel is a beamy racer-cruiser with a classic teak interior and tons of amenities: dual-burner propane stove, two sinks, and a roomy flushing head with shower.
Late-model Pearsons are known for an agility that belies their weight, extremely stable even in adverse weather conditions, and spirited racers in good air.
I am moored at a private yacht club on beautiful City Island. For 1 week+ rentals I am happy to deliver her to a slip in Manhattan or Brooklyn (Liberty Landing, One15, etc) to start your journey.
Ben was a responsive and helpful host for our weekend getaway on Zephyr.
The boat is moored at City Island Yacht Club which provides a solid launch service. From there we went East into the Sound and spent the next few nights in Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, and Greenwich. Moorings are readily available in most ports for $50/night.
The boat is as described -- not a lot of bells and whistles like autopilot or a speed sensor, but she sails well and has everything you'll need to make short passages. The foresail is large and the main has two single-line reefs. The galley and head are minimal, but there's little need to cook for oneself in Long Island Sound.
I'd recommend Ben's boat to anyone looking for a small keelboat in the area.
