Here is the perfect boat for a fun day on Lake Lanier! She is just the right size; small enough to be easy to handle, but large enough for the average family. Hanging out in that quiet cove is an absolute pleasure!
This is a 1989 Chaparral 198XL with a 4.7 liter V-6 engine. She is in immaculate condition, and looks like she just floated off the cover of a magazine! I hate to say that i feel like I stole her from an older gentleman who had her in drystack for the last 5 years and finally decided to sell her. The V-6 engine has an amazing amount of torque to pull a tube (I have not tried pulling a skier with her yet), and she is amazingly stingy when you pull back to the fuel pumps! She is particularly well suited for fun on the north end of the lake, away from the wake of larger boats on the south end. A two person tube is available (extra charge), and a 12 volt air pump is on the boat for the tube or any water toys that you may bring along. While she is placarded for a maximum of 9 persons, I would NEVER advise this!! I have had 4 adults and 1 teen on the boat in total comfort, and would consider a total of 6 people an absolute maximum for a decent day on this boat. If your party is larger than this, you might consider looking at my other boat, the "Lake Lanier Gem", as she is placarded for up to 12 persons with a practical maximum of 8 or 9.
Rick is very genuine, knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend renting from Rick. He has years of experience, his boat is clean and reliable. He met us at the dock and explained the boat and even gave us a few cool places to go. We took 3 of our kids and they loved the boat as well and mentioned how nice Rick was. We will rent again from Rick soon...tks for a great day on the lake. The Poage's
