Kenai River Private Fishing Trip: For Salmon & Trout

🐟Full-Day Salmon: May 15 to October 31

We fish the Kenai River and the Kasilof River for salmon. Our guided fishing trips start between 6 and 9 am. We target Kings, Sockeye, and Coho salmon according to the most current Alaska Fish and Game Emergency Orders. We also fish for the salmon that are in season and fresh. We target Sockeye Salmon (Reds) and Coho Salmon (Silver Salmon) for harvest. We target King Salmon on the Kasilof River from May 15th-July 31st.

We work hard to find the best spots to catch migrating Salmon on Full Day Trips. Most often, we fish from the shore for Sockeye Salmon as fish migrate very close to the bank. Salmon fishing with fly gear is very fun and will definitely test your angling abilities!

🐟Half-Day Salmon:

On the Kenai River, trips usually depart from 6-8 am and last for 4 hours. We target Sockeye Salmon or Coho Salmon based on current ADF&G regulations and seasons.

Half-day salmon trips are a great way to see beautiful sections of the Kenai River. Anglers will also have a chance at fighting several salmon on the fly!

🐟Full-Day Trout: April 1 to October 31

Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden fishing will always be catch and release, with no exceptions. Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden on the Kenai Peninsula can reach enormous proportions! Depending on the time of year, they can be taken with flies both on the swing and under an indicator. It is common to catch Kenai trout on flesh flies, egg imitations, leeches, and other traditional flies.

Spring and early summer can be great for traditional fishing methods. If numbers and size are your things, late summer and early fall can produce fish of a lifetime! Late fall and early winter is a great time to try swinging flesh flies and trout-sized intruders.

🐟Half-Day Trout:

Trout fishing trips will always be catch and release. On the Kenai River, trips usually depart at 6 or 7 am or noon/1 pm for afternoon trips. We target Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden with traditional fly fishing gear. Depending on the season we use swinging techniques and/or indicator nymphing techniques.

Half-day trout trips are an excellent way to get a taste of what the Kenai has to offer. The fishing and scenery is great!

Guide: David Lisi

Cooper Landing, Alaska is David's home where he is a fishing guide and trout bum. Spring 2021 marks the 7th year of guiding for Dave on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers and the 5th year of business.

You will most likely find Dave on the banks of the Kenai Spey fishing for trophy rainbow trout. Dave spent most days of his youth wading the waters of upstate New York fishing for smallmouth bass, muskie, pike, walleye, steelhead, and salmon.

His journey to Alaska was sparked by a chance fishing trip on the Salmon River in New York where Dave was invited up to Alaska to fish the mighty Kenai River.
