Anyone who wants to operate a boat of 10 hp or greater in Florida who is born after January 1, 1988 must have a Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card. This card must be with the operator on the boat. These cards can be obtained through a variety of boat safety classes offered in Florida. Anyone on board a boat age 6 and younger must wear a lifejacket at all times.
