Southern Puget Sound is a boater's paradise. We have pristine moorages, many marine State Parks with inexpensive buoys and docks, miles of beaches to roam, and also fun towns to explore, including Olympia, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, and Seattle. Our 30-foot Catalina has everything you need for a day, week, or month on Puget Sound. If you bring your own groceries, cook your meals on the boat, and drop an anchor at night, the cost of your trip will be comparable or less than what you would spend on a car trip for hotels, gas, and 2-3 meals at restaurants.
During the past seven years we have outfitted Emma Lee to meet all our cruising needs for our annual trip to the San Juans and the Canadian Gulf Islands.
It has a refrigerator, two kayaks, an inflatable dingy, a barbecue grill, hot and cold water, a sun-shower (and a small inside shower), and all the dishes and utensils you will need. It sleeps five adults: Two in the V-birth, two in the main cabin, and one on a quarter-birth. (For a birthday party for our 12-year old, we had six kids and three adults with the two dads sleeping on pads in in cockpit).
There are four state Marine Parks within three hours. Gig Harbor and Tacoma are a half-day away, and Seattle and beyond are fabulous destinations.
South Sound is known for our great views of the Olympics and Mt. Rainier, quiet inlets and harbors, warmer swimming water (in July and August), and many bays and destinations to explore.
If you live in Western Oregon or Southwest Washington, Olympia is the gateway to Puget Sound. Also, if you are visiting from out-of-state, chartering Emma Lee is a great way to enjoy Puget Sound and Western Washington. In addition, if you are thinking about buying a Catalina or other sailboat, I’d be happy to share my stories buying used sailboats and the benefits and pitfalls.
If the weather forecast is not good on the day you reserve, you can postpone your reservation to a later date, subject to boat availability.
We hope that chartering Emma Lee will be a fabulous experience for you, your friends, and family as it has been for us and our prior clients.
Bob had a very well equipped boat with all the navigation and safety equipment you could need. The boat is in great condition, and it really is perfect for Puget Sound. We had a great time sailing to Gig Harbor. We stayed overnight and sailed back the next day. We hope to rent this boat again next year.
This boat and owner are tops! Bob was very helpful, answered all questions promptly, and was willing to work with us on meeting times and supplies. He also provided excellent information about boating destinations and overnight docking. We rate the sailboat as superb--it was exactly as advertised, in excellent condition, had everything we could want on board and more...and was even more spacious "down below" than we expected. Our trip was wonderful and we highly recommend Bob and his boat.
Robert was a great renter, and his Catalina 30 was a beautiful boat that was in excellent shape. We had a wonderful sailing experience. Also, the marina was in a nice, easy-to-find location, and lower Puget Sound was great for sailing and exploration. I highly recommend renting Robert's Catalina 30!
My wife and I had an amazing experience. Robert had everything ready to go and was more than helpful with planning the trip. The boat is really well equipped and sails beautifully. I would definitely recommend try this out if you like sailing!
We had a great time and as a family of 5 the boat had plenty of space. It is in excellent condition and very well maintained. Bob was extremely helpful, well organized and professional. The kayaks and tender were a very nice bonus. We would absolutely recommend the boat and its owner.
We had a great time on the Emma Lee. The boat is well equipped and maintained, better than other charter boats I have been on. Sails are in great shape since they are only 5 years old. Bob was easy to work with, a prompt communicator and interested that we had a good time. This was our first time in the South Sound and found plenty of interesting places to explore. - Steve
Bob was extremely easy to work with and I will request to sail aboard his nicely appointed Catalina 30 again. My wife and our son and daughter-in-law enjoyed cruising up to Bainbridge and back to Olympia over the weekend. Bob did a great job of communicating with me when I had questions about where to eat and places to avoid and moorage. Great time and I would definitely recommend leasing from Bob!
We spent a day sailing in southern Puget Sound aboard the Emma Lee and had a great time. The boat is in extremely good condition and well equipped for a day or a week. Robert was more than helpful with information on local attractions and sailing conditions. We especially appreciated his flexibility with scheduling and his attention to detail during the boat check out. We'll charter this boat again the next time we are in Olympia.
We just got back from two wonderful days on the the South Puget Sound aboard Emma Lee.
The views were spectacular, we enjoyed the wildlife, both on and off shore, and took advantage of the opportunity to hike through the woods in two of the local State parks. The boat was clean and well appointed, the check out at the dock was smooth and efficient, and the boat handled well in a variety of conditions.
Bob was responsive and accommodating, providing kayaks and a dingy. He also had great suggestions about crushing destinations and routes of passage.
I can highly recommend this boat and would not hesitate to book her again.
My wife and I rented Bob's boat this past weekend. Bob met us at the boat and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We spent 4 days exploring the South Sound. The boat was well equipped. We spent the days exploring the various islands, kayaking, and cooking on board for all meals. It was a great experience and we are already planning our next trip on Bob's beautiful sailboat!
