Guided bass fishing trips on New Hampshire’s best lakes with Capt. Jim Rockett!

Your Guide: Capt. Jim Rockett

Since he was a boy, he has been an avid fisherman. Whether it was fishing the “Old Mud Hole” with his dad, riding his bike 10 miles each way to a pond with a rod taped to his bike, or introducing his son to fishing, Jim has a lifetime of experience to offer.

As an avid tournament angler, Jim is a 2-time member of the NH B.A.S.S. Nation-State Team. Additionally, he has spent thousands of hours on New Hampshire waters during all seasons and in all kinds of conditions.

He especially enjoys working with kids getting them out on the water and dialed into some fishing. Jim has been a long-time NH Jr. Bassmaster volunteer and also gives his time to the NHIAA High School Bass Fishing program.

All trips go out on my Stratos 200 XL bass boat. It has a 225 hp Evinrude E-Tec motor on the back and is equipped with a 36 volt 112 lb thrust Minn Kota Fortrex trolling motor up front. There is enough speed to get us around the lakes quickly and more than enough juice in the trolling motor to keep us fishing in any kind of weather.

There is a Lowrance HDS 10 hi-def fish finder at the console and an HDS 8 at the bow. If they are down there, we will find em!

Fishing Gear and Tackle:

I supply all the rods, reels, and tackle needed. You are certainly welcome to bring your own along, especially if you are a righty with a baitcaster…I am a lefty, and so is my son! Give me a heads up though, and I can probably dig something up. My baitcasting reels are mostly Revos, Quantum PT’s and maybe a Daiwa mixed in.

Special Trips:

🐟North Conway Local Half N Half:

This trip stays right in my home area. The first part of the day is spent on a local small body of water that shall remain nameless. Then we will swing by Frye’s Store in beautiful downtown Center Conway for a quick lunch (awesome pizza and fresh sandwiches) and head down to Conway Lake for the rest of the day. A real taste of some great local bass fishing! An awesome alternative to getting dragged around the outlet stores!

🐟Lake Umbagog Day Trip:

Our trip to the lake, located north of Berlin, winds along the Androscoggin River and right through Moose Country. I don’t believe I have ever gone up and back without seeing at least one moose. Lake Umbagog is a 7500-acre gem and is loaded with smallmouth (and a rare largemouth, too). Get up close and personal with the many eagles that nest on the lake while you wrestle with some aggressive smallies! Note: This can be a long day for some as it is 1.5 hrs or so each way from the Conway area...longer if we are dodging moose. They don’t get out of the way!

🐠Lakes We Fish:

Lake Winnipesaukee:

New Hampshire’s largest lake and my most requested trip. “Winni” offers something for everybody. Largemouth and smallmouth bass, Spring, Summer, or Fall, Winni has it all! Surrounded by the mountains, the lake is very scenic. With over 250 islands, there are plenty of “hiding places” to fish and it is a good year-round producer.

Lakes Region Alternatives:

One of the great things about this region is that there are plenty of alternatives to fishing the “Big Lake”. If the weather doesn’t cooperate there are a number of smaller bodies of water to safely fish: Lake Wentworth, Wicwas Lake, Lake Waukewan and Lake Kanasatka are local and all have good bass fishing.

Squam Lake:

Made famous by Henry Fonda’s movie, “On Golden Pond”, Squam will surely become one of your favorite places to be. Lots of islands, coves, and bays provide many nooks and crannies to fish for both largemouth and smallmouth bass. The lake has lots of rockpiles that hold nice fish and there are even some weeds to fish, too. Shallow, deep, or in-between, Squam provides an angler with plenty of opportunities to catch some nice fish.

Conway Lake:

A hidden gem in the heart of the North Country. Just minutes from the attractions of the Mount Washington Valley, but a world away from the hustle and bustle. Conway Lake is a great place to fish for bass…especially while your wife shops! I’ll pick you up at Settlers Green Outlets (or your hotel) and take you out fishin’ while she enjoys the many shops the Valley has to offer. Or, do you have a teenager who is just too old to visit Storyland or Santa’s Village again? I’ll come to get him and take him fishing while you enjoy the day with the younger kids.
