Beautiful 1985 Catalina 27 Tall Rig sailboat for rent bareboat to experienced sailors. USCG licensed captains also available via the Boatsetter network.
A popular deepwater east coast port, Charleston offers a beautiful harbor, several converging rivers, the Intra-Coastal Waterway and ocean access via a protected jetty.
S/V Frelsi (Icelandic meaning "liberty" or "freedom") is kept at the Cooper River Marina, about 2 nautical miles north of the scenic Ravenel bridge which connects Charleston to Mount Pleasant. The marina is owned and operated by Charleston County Parks and offers quick access to/from Interstate 26, free parking, restroom/shower facilities, laundry and a small store.
If bareboating, prior to launching Frelsi from her slip you will be greeted by her owner and given a thorough orientation. Then fire up her trusty 14 horsepower diesel engine and start your journey. Fuel is included with your rental.
S/V Frelsi is well-equipped with a sturdy mainsail and 150% furling genoa. The mainsail has two reefing points for windier days. The Simrad Cruise 7 chartplotter is easy to use. Other instruments include Raymarine ST60 digital speed and depth.
Getting a little hungry? Frelsi comes with a rail-mounted Magma propane grill and a two-burner alcohol stove in the galley. Pressurized water serves the galley and head. No need to keep your hand on the wheel while you're eating, Frelsi's Raymarine SmartPilot X5 wheel autopilot with p70 controller can do that for you.
A dodger and bimini will keep you dry and out of the sun, and should you need it you can connect the two with a clear zippered isinglass window to cover the entire cockpit.
In her cabin you will find LED lighting throughout, a cooler with a bag of ice, bottled water and a Westmarine marine radio. There will also be a handheld radio for your use in the cockpit.
Sleeping arrangements include the forward v-berth, two settees in the main cabin (one pulls out to double-wide) and a quarter berth to starboard.
For bareboaters "experienced sailor" means that you have experience with and are competent operating a 22' or greater monohull sailboat with an inboard diesel engine. Maneuvering in and out of the slip with a current and breeze will quickly demonstrate if you are qualified to bareboat this vessel. Should you demonstrate competence you can drop me off at the daydock and be on your way. If you are not an experienced sailor please hire a captain from the Boatsetter network.
RENTAL PERIOD MUST END AT LEAST ONE HOUR BEFORE OFFICIAL SUNSET.
