Carl Eric Walther Biography Carl Eric Walther is a US COAST GUARD licensed Captain rated up to 100 tons with sailing, towing, and unlimited radar observer endorsements. He has a lifetime marine radio operators permit and a technician class Ham radio license issued by the FCC. Mr. Walther is a 2015 graduate of the Orange Coast College Professional Mariners Program and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He has logged 27 years as Chief Boatswains Mate in the U S Coast Guard Reserve, retiring in 2002. He retired in 2006 from the Department of Homeland Security where he worked as a Senior Special Agent in the Marine Group with 22 years of successful service. He has had increasingly responsible assignments both nationally and internationally. Mr. Walther served as the Marine Safety Coordinator for the Office of the Special Agent in Charge, Los Angeles He is an accomplished sailor having past memberships in several yacht clubs. He is a past Commodore for the Orange Coast College of Sailing and Seamanship Sailing Center Association for 2010 & 2011. He has written monthly news letters and served on the Board of Directors. Mr. Walther is currently a Captain for the Boy Scouts of America, Newport Sea Base operating a pontoon vessel to carry students on environmental studies in Newport Beach, California. Served as Captain on Catalina ferry from Long Beach, Ca. He is enrolled in the MARITIME CONSORTIUM , MID # 36682, a random drug testing program, 24-7. Effectively served as Marine Safety Coordinator for U.S. Customs Service overseeing and operating a 52 foot sport fisher, and various small vessels in Southern California. • Successfully managed and participated in hundreds of USCG search and rescue missions requiring decision making, ocean navigations skills and management of crewmen using radar, GPS, charting, navigation, marine radio and Sonar. Responsibilities included supervision and training of crew and vessel operations, maintained schedules, and supervised staff. • Instrumental in the development of an award-winning training program which resulted in a substantial increase in customer satisfaction.
