Montauk, New York has been referred to as “The Hamptons without the crowd.” Montauk boat rentals are readily available and once you set sail you just found the best all-around summer weekend escape!

Summer’s here: Don’t miss the Best Places for Montauk Boat Rentals!

Montauk is Long Island’s easternmost village which offers the breathtaking waterfront experience every North-Easterner is craving. There are ocean views, perfect boating conditions, sandy beaches, and tons of fresh catch restaurants! In the early 1970’s the city went from a name no one had heard of… to being “on the map” when Andy Warhol purchased a 5-house compound right in Montauk. The rest is history.

So what do you do when you’re in Montauk? Find your perfect boat rental and Sunbathe, sip, snack!

Sail! This coastal city is perfect for dinghies and larger sailboats which enjoy the offshore waters. There are a plethora of available sailboats for charter in and near Montauk, both with and without a captain. Even someone who’s never set foot on a sailboat can get out on the water in no time!

Cruise! The area is blessed with picturesque sunsets which make an evening on the water a breathtaking adventure. Charting a private yacht and cruise up the coast to the lighthouse, or over to Fort Pond Bay to catch the sunset. Snorkeling and deep diving are also a common past time in this region.

A must see dive spot is just about 150 feet offshore. In 1871 an English frigate sunk and now sits resting in only about 20 feet of water. This ship is one of the oldest shipwrecks that beach divers can explore in Long Island. For those looking for an adventure, we highly recommend chartering a cruiser or pontoon to take you to this diver’s paradise.

Party! Let’s be honest… it wouldn’t be the Hamptons-lifestyle without a few cocktails and a good party. While residents of Montauk have set a precedent to keep their city a quiet and respectable place to live… there are still a number of amazing hangouts to cut loose and enjoy a good summer time. Keep an eye on the Surf Lodge who is expected to bring back their Summer Concert series. For your wildest nights in town, you will find yourself getting loose at the Sloppy Tuna – a Montauk classic.

Eat! Great grub is always a boat ride and quick shuttle away. Where to eat?

  • CLAM BAR this spot is a quick skip out of town. It sits on a barren stretch of the Montauk highway and has become an East End institution and a must-have part of the Hamptons experience. As the name suggests they serve clams on the half shell, lobster rolls, and to-die-for New England clam chowder.
  • TURF is an Airstream food trailer created by restaurateur event designer Zachary Lynd and Top Chef Sam Talbot. The two serve fresh juices, cold ratatouille, lobster rolls, and kale salads. The trailer can be found parked on Ditch Plains Beach – making it the favorite spot of golfers, servers, swimmers, and a number of celebs!

Marinas dot the New York coast which makes for easy boat rental choices. To get your trip started, take a peek at the boats, yachts, sails etc. that are available right now in Montauk. Your every summer Hampton dream will come true… you just have to look.

Boatsetter is a great option to get out on the water while you are in Montauk. Private boats are ready to set sail ranging from yachts to sailboats to fishing boats!
