Captain Hildreth is full of local stories. He's descended from the original owner of Montauk, Lion Gardiner, who received Montauk as a gift from his lifelong friend Chief Wyandanch, Grand Sachem of Montaukett. (Among other things, Gardiner helped rescue Wyandanch's daughter after she was kidnapped by the tribe on Block Island.) You'll get some fascinating stories and Montauk history, if that's your thing.
Captain Hildreth is a U.S. Coast Guard Captain and Master, is Rensselaer-trained in engineering, and is Johns Hopkins & Harvard-trained in executive leadership. Captain Hildreth has been involved with sailing since he taught sailing and windsurfing as a teenager at Gurney's Yacht Club. Since then he's taught over 300 people how to sail on his sailboat, Summer Boost. He's sailed extensively in Long Island waters, in the Chesapeake Bay, in the USVI, and as far north as the Canadian border during a solo voyage. He was also an ocean lifeguard in Montauk. He's an experienced navigator and life-long waterman. You have the right guide for your adventure!
Captain Hildreth and his wife Maria have donated over 50 sunset cruises on their boat to support the Montauk Playhouse, the Autism Society, Stony Brook Hospital, Montauk Village Association, Southampton Hospital, and other worthy causes.

Cancellation policy strict
- Free cancellations until 30 days before the booking start time.
- 50% refund for cancellations between 15-30 days before the booking start time.
- Cancellations within 14 days of the booking start time are non-refundable.
Security deposit
A security deposit hold (not a charge) will be placed on your credit card 48 hours before your booking starts to cover any incidental damage that may occur during your rental. This hold is released 48 hours after the booking is complete, if no claims are made. The security deposit amount for the boat you are booking will be outlined during the check-out process.
