Hi! We had a wonderful experience with Captain Thomas and his First Mate Steve. We are a family of 4, including 2 children (boys 11 and 13). Our day at sea was perfect. We stopped for lunch (brunch actually) at the Boat Yard, then out to anchor for a swim. My husband was the only one gutsy enough to jump in the water (a little cold), but that didn’t interfere with my boys’ fun. Captain Thomas and Steve were full of interesting information about the houses, area, fish, and sea life as we sailed.
My son fished with the assistance of Steve. We have literally zero fishing experience. My son just wanted to drop a line in the water. We didn’t expect much, but he caught a cute little orange fish. We set it free ;)
My 11 year old had a million questions “How does this work? What do you do with that?” All answered patiently by Captain Thomas and Steve.
We were offered a pretty large list of where to go / what to do while we were out, but honestly, we weren’t particular about any of that. I couldn’t tell you what part of the city we cruised by. We just wanted a relaxing day at sea and that’s exactly what we got. We booked a full day. In that time, we fished, swam, napped, tanned, and received a wealth of information. I definitely recommend booking here. I’ll certainly book again.
We had a wonderful day cruising with Thomas and his first mate. It was a last minute booking and he graciously accommodated our family of 6. He planned a scenic route and we had a wonderful day cruising and swimming. The yacht is well appointed and very comfortable. We spent much of our time on the bow which is very spacious and amazing views. It was our first charter experience and a great one. Would not hesitate to book Thomas again.
We had a surprise Birthday day trip for my Mother out on the moonlighter. Literally everything went perfectly that day, from the weather to boat itself. Thomas and Steve (First Mate) were wonderful hosts that took care of everything, even the fishing portion of the trip. The Moonlighter is a beautiful boat. I definitely will be coming back the next time I have a group event. Thank you so much Thomas!
The Moonlighter was a beautiful yacht that we had the pleasure to board for half the day and she was just a fantastic experience.
The Moonlighter has three clean, well-maintained levels. The main level has a galley, small dining area, and a living room that is fully enclosed with running air-conditioning. The living area is nicely decorated with cute nautical themed nick knacks and has a stereo system that we could hook our music to for our enjoyment. The galley had a sink, microwave, coffee maker and other compact appliances which they welcomed us to use. The crew provided us a large cooler filled with iced tea and water with enough space for our own drinks and if we forgot things such as sunscreen and towels, they conveniently had extra for us to use.
From the main deck, we could enter the bow to lay down, suntan, and enjoy the view. It was a spacious area that allowed everyone in our party to fit comfortably. Below the main deck was a large bed and bathroom which we used as our change room and above the main deck was the fly bridge with additional seating for a better view from up high.
The Captain, Thomas, and his Mate were very friendly and made us feel very safe and welcomed. They spent the majority of their time steering on the fly bridge to give us privacy. They would periodically come down to check on us, take photos, and ask if they could bring us drinks from the cooler. There was an optional service for us to purchase which was to allow them to fly a drone and record videos of us on our trip and we all agreed it would be a great keepsake. We had originally planned to head out to the ocean, but Thomas recommended that we stay more inland as the scenery would be better than sailing through rough waters. The route that they took us through was very majestic, with many beautiful houses and boats for us to admire and we even anchored close to a sandbar to do a little swimming. We could tell the Captain and his Mate were both very knowledgeable about the area and took great care in maintaining the Moonlighter with small acts such as wiping down the counters and seats whenever we left an area on the Moonlighter, a true labor of love.
If there was one thing we could complain about, it would have been the weather. Of course, there was no one to blame for that but Mother Nature. With our trip being sunny for the most part, it was nice that we had a fully enclosed deck to retreat to once the rain became more torrential. Despite the bad weather, Thomas and his Mate maintained their position on the fly bridge while the rest of us napped on the main deck. We did ask if they would prefer to steer on the main deck to avoid the rain, but they insisted on providing us privacy.
Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to recommend the Moonlighter and her crew to all of our friends and family. Thank you so much!
