Thanks Scott for a great day on the water. Although the sails where not available, we still enjoyed motoring around the bay on a sunny day. The boat was spacious and had a working bathroom, which was pretty convenient for a ~5h trip. Will definitely be back on Mama C again soon :)

Scott was great and very helpful in getting us all set up. The boat was easy to sail and comfortable, with a great space for relaxing and preparing snacks. The one challenge is that the boat is deep in the estuary, and the motor doesn't take you very quickly. We were also getting used to the boat and had 2 experienced sailors (one rusty), but it took us almost 2 hours just to make it out of the estuary as we were sailing upwind. Getting back was faster, but it still took just over an hour. So something to keep in mind if you're hoping to sail in the bay. Might be worth the 8hr rental. Unfortunately, due to a bridge, you can't exit the estuary the other way and shorten the trip.

What an amazing experience for the family!
We have two kids, 13 and 10, and this Hunter 30 is the perfect sized boat for a family of four or five. Easy to handle, all lines run aft, with a reliable inboard motor to get in and out of the marina and to handle tough situations.
The kids had a blast and were grinning ear-to-ear after our spirited sail in heavy winds in the slot between Alcatraz and Sausalito.
Scott was very professional and easy to rent from. He carefully walked us through the systems on the boat to help us get ready and discuss all the specifics of the Hunter.
Highly recommended, and we'll definitely rent again soon!

We had a really nice day out on the bay on the Mama C. Gusts got up to 15-20 knots and she handled wind and choppy conditions well. All lines run back to the cockpit and the layout was straightforward and easy to use. The boat was clean and in good condition when we checked it out.

A couple of items were in need of repair -- Scott told us the sailbag had been torn by a prior renter and was needing to be repaired, so we used a bungee cord to keep the main wrapped up on top of the boom. We also had issues with the head repeatedly filling while we were underway.

Overall we had a great day and really enjoyed the boat!

Scott was very communicative from the beginning. He was also very patient as I was late meeting him at the docks. He went through the boat's operation before departure and was available via the phone for any questions I had. The boat was in great condition, he really kept good care of it. It sailed flawlessly, had no problems. It also had one of the smoothest engines ever. I've been on many new boats, and the engine on here was far better.
I would definitely recommend and myself rent from Scott again.

Scott was super kind, prompt, and a wonderful communicator. It was effortless to charter his Hunter, and the boat was in immaculate condition! We had a wonderful day sail & picnic at Angel Island, and the boat was perfect for our group. There was plenty of space to stow gear, food, and beverages, and a cozy salon. The cockpit is spacious, with plenty of room to sit out and enjoy the view on the Bay. Thank you so much, Scott!

This is the second time I rented from Scott. The engine failed in the alameda/oakland estuary. I didn't even make it half way out. The engine would turn on and then turn off within a minute. I was able to put the sails up in time and was able to navigate to safety in the estuary. I contacted Scott to see if he can offer any insight to why the engine would be failing. I tried the troubleshooting steps he provided but had no luck. I slowly sailed closer back to the marina. Scott said he'll contact towing service to get the boat back into the marina slip. Tow service got us back in fine.
I was expecting a full refund since the boat didn't work as expected. I contacted BoatBound and they said they needed to confirm the story with Scott, I went back and forth with Boatbound for 2 months. Then they finally said that Scott is adamant that the fact I went out into the boat, he doesn't want to refund the money. I went out of the marina and within 10 minutes later find out the engine wasn't working correctly. I'm not a novice sailor and I did rent out his boat before (see my previous review for him). So, I did know how to use his boat and there can't be an issue there.
Friends that came from out of town to visit and wanted to go sailing, didnt' get to go out sailing. And on top of that, I have to pay for rental that wasn't working. I was not provided an alternative by boatbound and Scott is refusing to refund the money. Boatbound is absolutely not helpful and they want me to take it up with the owner of the boat. They need to intervene and provide a refund through him. I provided them the text message history of me talking to Scott saying that I need to come back because of boat issues and him sending a tow boat. Tow service also has a record of towing the boat. So I really don't understand why this is so difficult. I would like to use Boatbound again, but what is the service really providing if you're still left with all the risks.

Scott is a super nice guy and was very easy to work with. He takes great care of his boat; it's in excellent condition. All of the lines run back to the cockpit, so it's still very easy to sail if you're shorthanded. I would definitely rent his Hunter again. Thanks, Scott!

We had the best time! The boat was in great shape and was very comfortable for 10 people. Scott is so friendly and helpful, and did a wonderful job of introducing us to the boat and how it worked. Hands down, it's one of the best experiences we've had in the Bay Area and highly recommend it. We will for sure be renting from Scott again!
