Editor’s Note: Here at Boatsetter, our owners are at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to connect people, and build a community on the water, and we can’t do that without the help of passionate boat owners all across the country. By sharing their boats, they make it easy for others to discover and enjoy a wide array of on-water experiences, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

“At the Helm with Boatsetter Owners” is a special Q&A series, all about showcasing unique boat owner stories, and learning more about their journeys that lead them to Boatsetter.

Meet Amal Salameh

Q. What do you love about boating and being on the water?

Amal: Water makes me feel connected to the entire world. You can navigate the globe on the water, and I get a feeling of rejuvenation and calm. Whether it’s fishing, boating, or helping someone create a magical moment, it just simply makes me happy.

Q. Why did you decide to rent out your boat on Boatsetter?

Amal: I found the platform easy to use and above all, the customer service is unmatched by other booking sites. Having the pleasure to get to know a lot of the team at Boatsetter, I know the passion and genuine care they have for expanding the nautical community.

Q. Can you tell us a little about your experience with Boatsetter’s service and support teams?

Amal: My pricing is dynamic and I probably need more support than most. I have found the response time to be fantastic, and they don’t keep me or the customers waiting.

I have had other websites send me directions and instructions to give the renters to have them try and change or adjust things themselves—it takes so much more time and steps, and often frustrates the customers. And this leaves them unsure of the bookings. With Boatsetter, this is not an issue.

Q. How has renting on Boatsetter impacted your life?

Amal: I am the busiest charter company in the NYC harbor, and I get more bookings from Boatsetter than any other site. I am the only female owned charter business in the New York Tri-State area and trying to pioneer a wave of other women to join.

The bookings I get from Boatsetter have helped me build a real business where I can help employ so many people and touch their lives. Yes, I work very hard long days, but working for myself and building a nautical family has been priceless.

Q. What would you tell another boat owner who is considering listing their boat on Boatsetter?

Amal: Do not hesitate! The team at Boatsetter are real people, they actually care about your success and needs. There is someone on the phone you can call. I have spent months with other sites getting the same response and never a person. Not the case with Boatsetter.

Try it—see how easy and seamless it is, and you get your pay out immediately.

Q. What reactions have you seen from people who rented your boat?

Amal: The biggest problem I have is getting people off the boats! They have such a great time with the experience we provide that they never want to leave. I have had little girls tell me they had ‘the best day ever’ or ‘I want to be like you’ when I grow up. Guests who become familiar faces and hug us, text us and we are ‘family’ and ‘friends’ even if for a brief time.
