Dinner and a movie is so last year. If you’re looking for unique first date ideas for a great night out, look no further than the water. Whether it’s a sunset dinner cruise along the coast, an Eco-tour through mangroves and marshes or an afternoon of snorkeling, swimming and fun in the sun, a boating adventure is a creative and original alternative to the traditional first date scenario.

First Date Ideas

Sunset Dinner Cruise

A sunset dinner cruise makes a really unique and romantic first, second or 50th date. Sip champagne while enjoying soft music and the reflections of the city skyline dancing across the water. Cool sea breezes and a ceiling of twinkling stars will make the evening an event to remember.

Nature Tour

No matter how many times you’ve been to a zoo or aquarium, nothing compares to seeing wild dolphins, manatees and sea birds in their own natural habitats. Watch soaring seabirds as they dip and dive for fish, and try to catch a glimpse of gentle manatees while sailing along the seashore. Be sure to bring along your camera and binoculars. Dolphins love to jump in the wake of boats.

Aquatic Adventure

If you’re both of the fun-loving and adventurous sort, a day of swimming, snorkeling, tubing and other water sports is a great way to get to know each other. Book a half or full day water sports cruise out of a nearby marina or dock. Most of the larger boat charters have all of the gear and equipment you might need for a day on the water. All you need to do is show up with a towel, some sunscreen and an adventurous attitude.

Another great idea for a first date on the water is a stand-up paddle-board, kayak or canoe excursion. If you’ve never participated in this type of water sport before, you can always arrange a joint lesson. Afterwards, you can practice your newly discovered interests while getting to know each other.

Whether or not your first date on the water leads to a second or third date, it will be time well spent. If all else fails, you might discover a new interest or hobby in the process.
