Kemah Boardwalk

Kemah boardwalk dates back nearly 100 years and is now a sprawling theme park packed with many amazing things to do. The Boardwalk lies complete along Galveston Bay and nearby Clear Lake is widely considered one of the best in the entire country! For the adventure seeker, there’s the Boardwalk Bullet Roller Coaster, and the Beast, a massive roller coaster that propels riders at upwards of sixty miles an hour! Clear Lake

Kemah is situated right in between Galveston Bay and Clear Lake. Clearlake is a massive brackish body of water that stretches as far as Houston, League City and more. T Bone Tom’s

With a name like T’Bone Tom’s, it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that these guys know how to cook up some meat. The restaurant sits right along the marinas making it the perfect location for you to enjoy happy hour after a fun day out at sea. Here you can enjoy a whole range of house specialties including blackened catfish, incredible barbecue and great steaks. They even have vegetarian options for those looking for something a little lighter.

Galveston Bay

When prime surf’s spots come to mind you probably think of places like California or Hawaii, but Kemah is the home of an unusual and growing surf scene. Texas is world famous for oil and a large quantity of it is shipped via tanker ships. So some enterprising locals got it in their minds to surf the wake of these massive ships. The result? Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center

Head Straight into Space! One of Kemah’s most features is the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center which is one of NASA’s main operation centers. Here you can see where everything from deep space research into experimental spacecraft, spaceflight training, and even where flight control takes place. There’s even more with interactive exhibits that give you a real sense of what is like to head out into space.

The Marinas of Kemah

Although Kemah is a relatively small city, it’s actually home to an abundance of marinas. That’s because most people who go there are actually visitors from Houston looking to get away for the weekend. Here you can find several different options and a huge range of sips from Marina del Sol to the Waterford Harbor Yacht Club and Marina. The most famous, however, is Boardwalk Marina which is located along the massive theme park and features the largest variety of slips, ships and everything you need before you head out on a sea voyage.

Opus Bistro

Don’t let Kemah’s easygoing and friendly atmosphere fool you because you can find some seriously good food here. Opus Bistro is located right along the banks of Clear Lake and is the product of Chef Christopher Simon’s 35 years of restaurant experience. Here you can enjoy a modern take on Continental style classics including some of the best seafood in the region!

Water Activities

Kemah is any boating enthusiast’s paradise. The weather and conditions are good for the majority of the year and you have the option to explore many amazing areas. Most fishermen agree that heading over to the brackish waters of Clear Lake is a truly enjoyable experience while divers and snorkelers prefer heading out into the Gulf to enjoy some of the great spots out there. You can even enjoy some of the great beaches like El Jardin and Sylvan Beach Park. Aquarium Restaurant

This is one the best spots for kids. Aquarium Restaurant fittingly features a 50,000-gallon full of a huge diversity of different marine life. As you can imagine, it’s also a place for some incredible Kemah style fried fish with a deliciously flaky, light batter that just makes for a perfect dish.
