Dan and his boat were fantastic. Dan met us at the dock and reviewed all of the details of the boat with us. He suggested a route for the day sail and sent us on our way. The boat is in great order and prepared to sail from novice to racer. Great boat, great day, great owner in Dan.

Cannot stress how much fun getting out on the Luna Sea was! My friends and I really lucked out with perfect weather for the weekend. Dan was incredibly easy to communicate with pre-charter, and had the boat completely stocked for us upon arrival! I surprised my husband with a sailing trip while we were in San Francisco. Dan planned an amazing day! He brought his wife with him to help and they were both so nice, accommodating, and lots of fun to spend the day with. They made us feel very comfortable on the water and on their boat. I couldn't have asked for a better trip! We would love to sail with them again!

We sailed on Luna Sea on the hottest day of the year so far in winds that were light to begin with, so we did mostly motoring into the open waters of the bay. After lunch the winds came up. We sailed from the San Francisco waterfront to the Golden Gate Bridge. The winds hit 20nm. The boat handled the winds very nicely and we had an exhilarating sail from the waterfront to Tiburon then down behind Alcatraz Island. From 1:30 till 5:00 the winds continued to blow very nicely.

Dan's boat handles beautifully, doing well in open waters with moderate winds. My crew was excited and enthusiastic and we all want to return as soon as possible. We're looking at another trip in the fall and maybe sooner.

Dan was very welcoming and accommodating. He allowed us to stay on the boat the night before the sailing trip, which was very convenient since we didn't have to fight Bay Area traffic on the day of the sail. Thank you Dan.

Light winds 5-10 but awesome air show with the blue angels and an F22 raptor overhead. Boat in great condition and Dan always super reliable. See you again next year.

I decided to celebrate my birthday sailing around Bay Area. I had many doubts, because it was my first sailing experience and I didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be one of the most exciting and remarkable events I've ever had) It was a perfect adventure for me and all my friends. Thank you Dan for hosting us at Luna:)

Fantastic experience!

The boat is in super shape, very well and smartly rigged. We sailed it on the Bay by 20 knots without reefing. The cabin is very comfortable, even for kids (3 kids for our session).

Dan is a really nice, welcoming and easy-going person.
He calmly explained everything we needed to know and made sure we were comfortable for our sailing trip.

Dan was very welcoming. We had some doughnuts and the boat was stocked with ice and beverages.
The boat is very stable and easy to steer. We didn't have to reef when we crossed the bay in spite of the 20-25 knots of wind. We manage to reach a steady 8.5 knots on the way back.

We had a great time with Luna Sea! Dan was more accommodating than we had any reason to expect, including outfitting the ice box with ice and beer, plus exhibiting much patience when we arrived back at the slip a little later than expected.

Luna herself is a sweet sailor. The rig is tweaked out to the nines and she handled 25 knots without a hitch, despite the inexperience of the day's crew. We were extremely comfortable with 6 on board.

I'd have to say we went crazy for Luna Sea! :-)

We had a wonderful weekend sailing aboard Luna Sea. Dan was so nice to work with and had the boat perfectly outfitted for our trip. We made good use of his year-round pass to Angel Island, which permits use of the docks for day hiking as well as the moorings for staying overnight. The vessel is a perfect combination of racing performance and cruising comfort. I would definitely charter Luna Sea again!

As always, Dan is a great owner to rent from. The boat sails great, the owner is friendly and it always well stocked with beer and ice!

We had an amazing time renting Dans sailboat on Saturday. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. I will be renting from him again the near future and really looking forward to it!

Awesome as always. Two of our crew decided to go for a swim in the lee of Angel Island, swam to the beach and back -- GREAT FUN. And spotted many dolphins in Raccoon Straits!

I chartered Luna Sea for my girlfriend's birthday and I've never seen her happier. Luna Sea handles beautifully and the San Francisco Bay is the most beautiful place I've ever sailed. Dan was also an absolute dream to coordinate with. He had everything we could have asked for ready on Luna Sea when we arrived and took care of all the prep work and cleanup. He went out of his way to make sure we had a blast. I honestly couldn't have imagined a better time. Everything went wonderfully and I'll definitely be back to charter Luna Sea again.

We had an absolutely wonderful time with Captain Dan and his sailboat. As a family we celebrated my husband's sixtieth birthday, and the sail far exceeded our expectations. After a review of the safety instructions we enjoyed wonderful mimosas and sailed to Angel Island. The lunch was terrific and his stories even better! The highlight was watching the 40 minute show of the Blue Angels as Dan cheerfully tacked back and forth many times in a very crowded area. He provided a wonderful memory for my family and I would highly recommend his services.

Once again the Luna Sea was perfect for a team outing on San Francisco Bay! Completed over 30nm of sailing around the bay! Dan was extremely hospitable, boat was in great condition.

Dan is very responsive, flexible, helpful and laid back, which I really appreciated. We did an overnight and we were very comfortable. The boat sails beautifully and even in light winds, we were moving at a solid pace.

Really enjoyed working with Dan and renting Luna Sea. Everything was ready to go when we arrived....all we needed was get our stuff on board and turn the engine over to leave dock... Dan was great! My wife and I chartered Luna Sea for 5 days from Dan, and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of our lives. Not only did Dan provide the boat, but he arraigned a ride for us from the airport and helped us provision the boat! Dan ran us through the in's and out's of the boat and then turned us loose. Luna Sea is a wonderful vessel and sails very well in heavy weather conditions. The interior is nice and very comfortable for overnight stays. The first afternoon we ran through the slot with 25 knot winds at 7+ knots of boat speed and were very comfortable. I wish I could sail that boat every weekend!

Luna Sea is a beautiful boat and a fabulous for cruising in San Francisco Bay. Dan is the ideal owner and a tremendous companion for introducing you to the area. Incredible day on the bay with Luna Sea!!! Watching the blue angels overhead while reaching in about 15 knots from blossom rock to alcatraz and back was the definition of a "WOW" moment.

Luna Sea is an excellent boat for a day sail on the bay. Well equipped, stable, and loved by Dan who is an equally excellent host. Getting the boat was easy, Dan's orientation was quick & clear, and the boat was even well stocked! I'll definitely charter from Dan again.

It was fine. Dan is a bit of a 'character', and some of the ladies in the group were not that thrilled with him. He kind of sly-talked me out of a bareboat charter, which I purchased. The boat was decent, though, and the sailing fun.

Great experience with Dan for the second time. Highly recommend and will do it again.

My family had no prior sailing experience, but Dan was a great captain and allowed everyone to participate in driving the boat and changing the sails. I could not think of a better experience. Great experience. Boat was in great condition, communication was good, Dan made sure we were set up and was generally very helpful. Bareboat daysail, took about half hour to go over the boat systems in the morning and then Dan met us at the dock when we returned.

Look no further! Highly recommend. Dan and Myphi are the best! We were able to enjoy beautiful views of the city and the east bay. Even had a chance to stop on Angel island for lunch. Dan is extremely

We had an absolutely wonderful time with Dan! He was friendly, relaxed, and flexible with plans from the very beginning before we even had the chance to meet. Once our group arrived at the boat, he was just as welcoming and helpful. After a few quick safety words, we were on our way sailing. The bay was a bit choppy the day we went, but it made for a bit of adventure and plenty of laughs. He taught us a few things about sailing, and let us help out here and there as well. Having been in SF much longer than the rest of us, he also had some great stories to share as we sailed around different parts of the bay. I highly recommend Dan as both a skipper and to rent from. Great FUN on the bay as usual with Luna Sea. Boat is always in top condition ready to go when we get there. Dan continues to upgrade the electronics -- had fun teaching the kids how to use the GPS, especially when we entered a heavy fog opposite the Golden Gate.

We had a great time on the Luna Sea. Dan was awesome! He met up with us and showed us features of the boat, as well as how these gadgets on the boat worked. He's got them all too: digital depth meter, wind sensor, GPS,.. you name it. You can tell he has a passion for sailing. Luna Sea was a great boat; well maintained, easy to sail. Dan's gotten it set up so that you could control everything from the cockpit: the sailboats I've been on required someone at the bow to access the halyard. We'll certainly be back. Thanks Dan!

WOW! My family had an amazing time with Dan, he was very accommodating to our schedule, very knowledgeable about the bay area and a great help with the sailing. Luna Sea and Dan were fantastic! Dan gave a great boat intro, very flexible on schedule, and most importantly the boat worked flawlessly all day! New motor is quiet and made for comfortable motoring in the morning, and once the wind picked up had a beautiful sail, all running gear, sails, and all the kit in great shape. I look forward to many more repeat rentals!

We had a lovely afternoon aboard Luna Sea. Dan was a knowledgeable and gracious host, letting us play captain and pointing us in the right directions. We saw several pods of dolphins and sea lions before settling in at Angel Island for the lunch Dan brought for us. All in all we probably spent 6 hours on the water and enjoyed it immensely. We would love to do it again!

Our family had a wonderful sailing trip with Dan, traveling from Alameda, under the Bay Bridge with beautiful views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Angel Island. He moored the boat at Angel Island in a quiet cove and we took a short break for lunch before heading back. Dan was very welcoming and our family felt comfortable and safe on his boat. He also encouraged us to join in helping with the sailing and driving of the boat. On the way back we saw Alcatraz, the sea lions at Pier 39, and the stadium. I highly recommend Dan and his beautiful boat! He will get back to you via email or phone right away and is very knowledgeable about the history of San Francisco. I would give Dan more than five stars if it was possible. Thank you Dan for helping make this family day one we will remember forever!

We really enjoyed the day on the Bay with Dan and his comfortable 36' sail boat, "Luna Sea". His pre-trip arrangements were well planned and professionally setup for our trip. We felt very good with Dan's quick responsiveness before the trip to our questions & concerns. Boat Safety was reasonably emphasized and all the guests were very pleased with Dan's expert boat handling skills. Great fun-we will definitely charter with Dan again in the near future.

Another "E ticket" ride on San Francisco Bay: from dead calm (with dolphins) behind Angel Island to dense fog and 20-30 knot winds opposite the Golden Gate bridge along the Berkeley flats. (First time I needed a compass course from Angel Island to the eastern span of the bay bridge!!!) The boat handles it all just fine and as usual, Dan is great to work with.

Another great day on the water with Luna Sea. Dan is always super reliable and the boat is always clean, well kept and ready to go. Every year there are new upgrades -- this year it's the electronics. And the Alameda Channel location gives the best ride out and back. Love seeing all the boating traffic, drydocks and containership operations along the way. Accomodates 8 people nicely -- everyone had a great time and are looking forward to the next sail. It is easy to say great things about Dan and his Islander 36. But that might only reveal the obvious. Anyone would enjoy a day on the water with Dan. My son and I chose to accept Dan's offer to join us. Even though we are sail boat owners and have sailed extensively for many years Dan's company was truly valuable. He has local knowledge of the waterways and of the history of the many things to see on the water in the Bay area. Moreover, as experienced sailors, we learned some strategies and techniques from Dan that we will apply during our sailing on the East Coast. He is not intrusive yet is instructive and companionable. At the end of sailing for 7 hours on Luna Sea we felt that we spent a day with a friend. The marina is easy to access by car and parking facilities were great. You have water access to the Bay as people perceive it as well as you see the Oakland/Alameda commercial shipping venue. That plus seeing the City and its features, the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, Alcatraz, the new baseball field all in a day is a trip by sail without peer. All in all, what Dan offers is a true bargain! Given what he adds to the bareboat charter, a day on Luna Sea is the "best deal in town".

Dan's Islander 36 is a great boat for the bay! She handles great in significant winds and can point better than most boats available to rent. We did multiple passes in front of the slot and she had no problem maintaining course. Try that on a Hunter! Dan and his wife were very nice and incredibly knowledgeable.

The boat is in great shape, easy to operate and lot of digital equipment that makes your sailing in the SF bay a breeze.
Dan is very friendly, easy to talk to and make arrangements with. We came about 1.5 hours later than we promised and Dan was patiently waiting for us. Always available to give advice and assistance.

We took out Luna Sea for a day with 6 of us, and 2 kids. The winds were pretty light, but we still had a fantastic time. When the wind did pick up, we had some really exhilarating sailing across the bay. Luna Sea is a beautiful and well-maintained boat and Dan is a fantastic owner who loves sailing and is extremely personable and helpful. Highly recommended.

Dan was excellent! We went out to watch the America's Cup races and Dan positioned his boat so that we constantly had the best viewing position. Unlike most of the other boats that stayed in one place Dan continued to sail and give us great commentary on the race and made the sailing and viewing a wonderful experience for all of us. His enthusiasm for boating was evident for the entire day - we felt more like family friends than guests paying to be on his boat. We will definitely come back for another day of sailing with Dan - we all had a wonderful time!

Only knock was that the dinette table was still broken (this rental was in April, previous one was end of November). We didn't need it, so no big deal.

I would recommend Dan and Luna Sea to my friends and will be glad to rent it again!

We had a fantastic day on Dan's boat. Everything was as advertised and we especially enjoyed the beer selection on board.

Absolutely perfect, every single detail. We took kids and they loved it, a perfect trip around the bay.

Captain Dan provided an absolutely top-notch sailing experience for our family. We had a full day on the bay and Dan knew where to go to provide an excellent view of the air show. He also had lots of interesting stories and trivia about boats and ships and airplanes and San Francisco. Dan was very accommodating to our wishes, and in the months and days leading up to our charter he was always very prompt and helpful with his replies through Boatsetter.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our adventure with Captain Dan on Luna Sea (awesome name, by the way) and I would highly recommend his services.

Luna Sea is a great boat for SF bay. She is easy to sail and fast in light wind. We had a great time abound and would recommend getting in touch with Dan who is very accommodating. Thank you Dan for stocking her up on drinks and snacks. I would happily charter her again in the future.

Dan is the man! All six of us enjoyed a lovely experience sailing on the Bay. We were greeted with a bubbly attitude and donuts to start. We all felt safe the entire trip and Dan empowered us to learn how to be great crew members. He was full of fun stories and knowledge. We laughed, ate lunch at Angel Island, sailed alongside the Embarcadero, and stopped by the At&t baseball stadium before returning to our Marina. I highly recommend Dan and his Islander 36 Luna Sea.

We had a great time on the Luna Sea! She sails like a beauty and can handle the winds in the bay quite well. She is also quite beamy which makes it easy to entertain guests while on the water. Looking forward to future adventures.

We had a fantastic day sailing with Dan. We sailed from Alameda, over to SF to pick up some friends, then all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge and back. Dan was a great teacher and got us all involved in sailing the boat. He even gave us a ride back to SF at the end of the day. I would highly recommend a day on the "Luna Sea" to anyone who wants to do some real sailing on the bay.

A great boat that is well stocked. The Islander 36 handles well in a wide range of winds, and is simple enough to single hand if necessary. We had an awesome trip around the Bay!
