The beautiful water and scenery surrounding the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay make San Francisco, California a destination to remember. Set aside some time to include water-based activities such as sightseeing, nature watching, dining at waterfront restaurants and exploring the bay area sites of Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island and Seal Rocks.

Aquatic Experiences, San Francisco

Whether you enjoy history and architecture or nature and ecology, a boating excursion around the San Francisco area can appeal to almost any interest in your group. In the very unlikely chance that it doesn’t, you can always just sit back with a drink and enjoy the wind in your hair.

Whale watching and sightseeing
Watch whales migrate north along the California coast. From June to November, blue and humpback whales can be seen. From December to May, it’s migration time for gray, killer and sperm whales. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the Farallon Islands, the Golden Gate Bridge, Point Reyes National Seashore and the San Francisco skyline.

Sunset catamaran cruise
Don’t miss the spectacular sunsets of the California coast. Cruise in style aboard a luxury catamaran complete with hors-d’oeuvres and drink service. You may even spot playful sea lions along the way. Be sure to snap some shots of Alcatraz Island, Sausalito and the San Francisco skyline.

Dockside Dining, San Francisco

Whether you’re craving fresh seafood, gourmet pizza, Sunday brunch or award-winning California wines, San Francisco’s waterfront restaurants can deliver all of it and provide a great view in the process.

Pier 23
Located near Fisherman’s Wharf at the Embarcadero, Pier 23 is popular with locals and visitors to the city. Choose from a variety of menu items such as fish tacos, crab and shrimp sandwiches and baby back ribs. Harbor seals can sometimes be seen playing in the waves in front of the restaurant.

Greens Restaurant
Enjoy views of San Francisco Marina and the Golden Gate Bridge as you dine on red curry dishes, pasta and gourmet pizza made with organic local ingredients. Greens Restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Sutro’s at the Cliff House
Sutro’s at the Cliff House serves lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch by the backdrop of the magnificent Pacific Ocean. The menu includes crab cakes, Thai style bouillabaisse, lamb chops and New York strip. If you happen to be there at the right time, you might see whales migrating north from Baja.
