Nelson is very responsive and accommodating, he worked with me to ensure an easy and positive experience. Nelson and his boats are highly recommended
He was ready waiting for me when I pulled up at the dock. I explained a few basics of the boat and off they went. The rental went super smooth and a few hours later he messaged me to come pick up the boat. Communication was excellent whenever we texted or called. I would rent again to Peter at any time. -Nelson
Richard was an awesome host. He took my friends and I on an epic bachelor party trip to Catalina for a night of camping. His boat had plenty of room for all are gear and food. He was a really fun guy and even partied with us most of the time. While boating he taught us the basics of sailing and let us steer and tie knots. Had a great time!
David and his friends are wonderful and down to earth people. They chartered my boat and asked me to take them to Catalina for their friend's bachelor party. They were easy going, fun to be around, helpful, and were respectful to me and my boat. They made me feel like I was part of their family and part of their bachelor party. They were punctual and easy to communicate with. When the boat had some mechanical issues, they were exceedingly helpful and even helped fixing it. I taught them to sail, pilot, and tie some knots. In short, they were a joy to be around. (FIVE STARS)
My second rental with Michael went fantastic (much like my first rental.) Michael was super accommodating, even when our return was delayed to due poor estimation on my part. (It took far longer to get back from Angel Island than I originally anticipated.) Michael was great about it, simply requesting we keep him in the loop and give him 30 minutes to get to the dock to meet us on return. He is quick to respond to messages and any texts/calls his way. The Calatina 25' itself is a very forgiving boat. We have gone out twice now with 5 adults in the cockpit without feeling crowded (we were close, but you only sail with people you like for good reason.) The reefing system on the main is easily worked, and fairly traditional (with two reefing points). One person will have to go forward to the mast to put in the reefs, as the cleat for the reefing line terminates on the boom near the gooseneck/mast. The jib is on a furling system, so deploying/recovery of the jib is as easy as it can get. The location Michael keeps his boat is very convenient. There is (free) public parking that doesn't tend to fill up until closer to lunch; and you are sailing in excellent winds as soon as you leave the marina (150 yards from the slip) and set the main. You won't be wasting money on fuel; you'll be sailing.
Another great rental with Rob, glad to see him again. The first rental was so smooth, I practically just hand over the boat to him. Of course the boat was brought back clean and put away with no damages. I recommend renting to Rob if you looking for experience, knowledgeable, polite and a responsible sailor.
This was a fantastic time. Great, solid, clean boat and a great value. The cabin area and canvas enclosure were key and helped on the Bay. I would definitely rent this boat and from Mike again.
